Mixed Media Works
Have you ever been somewhere, taken a photo and then been disappointed later when viewing the 4 x 6” photograph? I realized I was not happy seeing and remembering an inspiring place with just the 6” view. The panoramic images here have developed out of my desire to show an extended view, and hopefully the feel of the place in a more profound way. The works here are created using a mix of mediums. Starting with a wash of watercolor on 100% rag, acid-free paper, I move to a mix of color pencils, drawing pencils, markers, inks and gouache to complete the images. With the textures and patterns desired, the mix of mediums help to achieve the look I want. For myself, I feel I have then captured the memory of the land.
